Central American Youth Ambassadors

The Central American Youth Ambassadors (CAYA program) is administered internationally by the Center for Intercultural Education andDevelopment (CIED), Georgetown University and funded by the United States Departmentof State, Educational Services Division.

The Office of International Programs, Alamo Colleges is deeply appreciative of the opportunity to facilitate this exchange between Texas youth and Central American youth.

Alamo Colleges has hosted seven CAYA groups since 2010. All the local participants, schools, cultural and civic institutions, businesses and individuals have contributed to the CAYA exchange out of a common conviction that investing in our young people and fostering communications across cultures will make our world a better place.

In 2014, CAYA participants were from Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, The Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Previous programs involved students also from Nicaragua and Honduras.
